Talking about the Austrian Visual Artist/Food-Porn Artist SOSO PHIST whos Designs and Images are getting more and more popular and appreaciated in the "scene" in Vienna.

I actually have no idea where i met Soso (probably at Rhinoplasty - as in the clubbing)

Soso always makes my day when i get new facebook-feed of her Visual artworks. I have to admit that sometimes i am bit uncomfortable examining her Art but thats good in way i guess.

Anyhow, i finally decided to publish a post on her.
Here is a short Interview with the lovely little girl - who's looks and appearance is rather

How would you describe your art?

Currently my art is all about desires including sexual desire (obviously...), as well as food as a substitute for sex.

Also I like the aesthetics of fast food or food in general.
Most of the content and context is very personal and I always try to find the perfect visual language to express myself without being to obvious.
What do you want to provoke in people or accomplish with it?
In fact I don't think a lot about what I want to provoke in people when they see my artwork.

I'm practicing my art mainly for myself and see it more as a kind of therapy.

But I'm really happy and glad when people like the things that I do and can identify themselves with it.

Why use Food like Burgers and Fries and combine them with female body-parts?

I find food sexy and I'm also really into boobs.

Can food really be a substitute for sex? I don't know.
I'm still trying to figure that out.
Or maybe food and sex should always go together, as the ultimate satisfaction?
Sure is: both has to do with temptation and desire.

What are you plans for the next 2 years?
First I want to continue my studies at the academy,
have some more exhibitions,
try out a lot of new things,
explore integrating new materials and new forms of media in my work and then doing my diploma in 2 to 3 years from now.

Do you like Vienna? Why?
I love Vienna! Otherwise I wouldn't still be here I guess.
Since I've been here a feel like I really developed a lot and my work has flourished in a way. There is just a great spirit in the artsy and queer community and I felt very welcome right from the start.
It's just the right place at the right time, it's as simple as that.

Jason Fox

Jason Fox’s first solo show was held at Feature in New York in the early nineties, just after MoMA’s  High and Low: Modern Art and Popular Culture    (the first major exhibition to address “the relationship between modern art and popular and commercial culture.”)  And only two years before Mike Kelley organized  The Uncanny  at the Gemeentemuseum , Arnhem.  Fox’s work itself acts as a link between these events, and they in turn allow us to chronologically situate his acts of borrowing from both art history and from record sleeves of the seventies.  Although considered as common practice today, this kind of artistic approach was not so widespread at the time.
In a recent interview with artist Joe Bradley, Fox explicits his position:  “ The early nineties was another death-of-painting period and to be making expressive paintings that had nothing to do with appropriation was going against the tide. Fro...
