Paris-based designer Niels Peeraer‘s Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, ‘Hua Dan Calyx’, continues to follow his signature aesthetic, that being to create unique accessories, combining vegetable tanned bridle leather with brass fittings.
The headpieces are a “direct translation from both Chinese and Japanese historical headdress”, and the bags are inspired by the geometry of a flower. A word I don’t often use is cute, but it is undoubtedly how I would describe Niels’ work. Depending on your style, each piece within the collection is unisex. Combining accessories design and art with a contemporary twist, Niels has, once again, pulled it off.
The darling child of the Antwerp Academy's graduating class of 2011, Niels swooped several prizes for his collection 'guess technology isn't ready for pancake teleportation', which explored the Japanese

and the journey of a young boy with an imaginary boyfriend.
Niels was chosen by Delvaux to create a limited-edition leather handbag to compliment his collection.
‘The lotus and the snake, the curse of the white fox’
Collection about a Japanese boy and a girl trying to protect their family crest.
Niels Peeraer’s collections are made out of vegetable tanned bridle leather in combination with brass fittings, carefully crafted but still with the intention to celebrate the natural beauty and strength of the leather.
