All eyes on...

... ARTHUR ARBESSER i got to know Arthur - the energetic austrian fashion designer - last year together with Julia at the CAPSULE Tradeshow during Paris fashionweek. He was part of an italian showroom exhibiting there. They were all really unfriendly (except at the last day, i guess it was a cultural thing - i don't do cultural things) thats why it took a bit till Arthur -always being a bit shy- had the courage to walk over and talk to me. But the reason was another -he had seen pictures of me and his great friends Stefanie Herkner (she owns this fabulous little austrian restaurant which i will tell you more about next week! Gosh i have so many unpublished blogposts waiting for your). Anyhow - being Stefanis friend it came natural that we would be bffs from the start. Julia and i were so glad that we had him to chitchat with - for anyone amoung you who exhibited at a Trade-show you know why, it cant get boring! So as he showed me his collection i was fascina...

Talking to ... Haight Ashbury

Haight-Ashbury . As soon as someone mentions these two magical words one would surly think of the the roaring 60s flower/power generation - which i believe actually never died - and in a way you are right. But H.A. is also a rather new band from scotland. I had the honor of meeting them last summer at the "Donauinsel Festival" at the FM4 Stage. My Dog and me stoof front row and had a blast! (yes she was dancing to!) Anyhow they took the time now to anser some questions i sent them. enough said. here you go! So you've heard this one a 1000 times but - how do you see your Music in this time, i mean its all 60s and hippie inspired and how does that fit to the time we live in. - The genre was never a conscience decision. We're influences by all kinds of music but mainly late 60's early 70's, however we don't want to just be a tribute band to that era. Grunge and shoe-gaze music like nirvana and mazzy star equally influence our soun...

Cathy Choi

A while back we contacted Illustrator Cathy Choi . We wanted to do an interview with her. We did. Anyhow we had to wait a while for it cause our supersweet cathy made a special Illustriation just for Dough&Fruit. I really really like. Here is the Interview and the Image is the very last one on the page. enjoy. What is cathy choi all about and where you're from? I'm origianlly from Seoul, Korea but I've spent half of my life in the U.S. Me or my work is all about lines and patterns. When did you start working as an Illustrator? I decided to become an illustrator when I was in college but I've be en drawing and doodlin g ever since I can remember. Was it a hard start? I have to say that I'm still in the process of starting. And it's hard! Do you sketch on the computer or is it all finished work? Hand only with a little bit of finish-up in Photoshop. I try to stay away from using computer too much. Does this allow you to get down more ideas or is it an obstacle...

Reverieny

New york has a lot to offer sights, music , fashion, culture(more the variety of people then the city it self). And once more we stay with fashion. Designer Ronit Genik lives in new york and we love what she does. without further introduction: On your homepage it says that you are from Israel, does your background give any point of influence to you? influence on your designs? I was born in Israel, grew up in New York with a Russian background as well. All of these backgrounds definitely influenced me and my designs at some point. Growing up in a place as culturally diverse as New York is still an influence on all my current collections as well. Now, when I look @ your designs I find a lot of modern chic in it. A lot of black, nice feminine cuts - strong cuts. How would you describe your current 2009 collection? I would say my collections have much in common, like strong silhouettes, great fabrics and interesting details. The designs are easy to mix and match with anything in your clo...
